The Government Administration Building is a 240,000 square feet project on a 6-acre parcel in Georgetown. With five storeys, it’s the largest commercial building on the island. It is headquarters for the Cayman Islands Government, accommodating approximately 1000 government employees, and is expected to save the approximately 10 million KYD per year.
OBMI was contracted for its architectural concept and Interior Design. We designed it to exceed the highest standards for sustainability while making it highly durable and requiring little in the way of maintenance. It is engineered with exceptional hurricane resistance and seismic stability. In 2012, the project was awarded LEED Silver (LEED BC+C), making it the first building in the Caribbean to obtain LEED certification.
