Given Haiti’s inviting climate, miles of coastline, unspoiled beaches, and breathtaking mountains, industry experts feel confident of its potential to grow tourism. OBMI’s plans for Villa Creole are designed to answer that call, with a master plan and insightful amenities that attract a new market of convention visitors. We began with a historic asset, Le Royal Hotel at Villa Creole, and designed a mixed-use plan that would accommodate business travelers and residents, opening new economic avenues.
Built in the 1950’s, Le Royal Petion-Ville was once considered the finest property in Haiti, with an art deco design that epitomized luxury and glamour. Since its origins, the site has been renovated several times. A cohesive redesign was needed to tie the various styles together. Retaining that vintage cachet while presenting new business opportunities to this Port-au-Prince bedroom community, our firm designed an 8,000 square foot convention center and two residential towers. We also upgraded the historic outdoor amphitheater, creating a community focal point. Marrying the art deco heritage with contemporary features, we honor the property’s history while giving it a promising future.
